2023 Annual Charity Golf Classic Recap

The Langley for Families Foundation raised over $535,000 in gross profits at its 9th Annual Charity Golf Classic in Williamsburg on May 16. Net proceeds from the Charity Golf Classic will be granted to Hampton Roads nonprofits in the areas of healthcare, housing and human services, and access to education.

Over 100 golfers were treated to a wonderful day on the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club’s Gold Course which included multiple opportunities for challenges and prizes, including longest drive, closest to the pin, and hole-in-one grand prizes. Golden Horseshoe Golf Pro Erick Mellott joined players on the course for a Beat the Pro contest and a chance to win a new Titleist TSR driver. Congratulations to tournament winners:

  • 1st Place: Mark Eggleston and Team at C&F Bank
  • 2nd Place: Shawn Kelley and Team at Segra
  • 3rd Place: Dutch Jones and Team at The Supply Room

The event’s Platinum sponsors were vendor partners whose values and commitment to making a difference align with Langley: CUNA Mutual Group, Glenn Development, Immediate Mailing Services (IMS), Lumin, VISA, and VISA DPS. “We are so grateful to our sponsors, partners, and volunteers for their commitment to this important event for the Langley for Families Foundation,” said Jerome Fowlkes, Langley Federal Credit Union’s CHRO and newest board member of the Langley For Families Foundation. “their generosity powerfully demonstrates their dedication to ensuring our nonprofit partners have the resources needed to serve families and children in need in the communities we serve.”

In 2022, the Langley for Families Foundation donated over $1,000,000 to more than 100 nonprofit organizations across the Hampton Roads community working hard to serve individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. The Foundation focuses on four main program areas: Education; Safety & Security; Healthcare; and Housing & Human Services. Langley Federal Credit Union has a long history of community involvement and charitable giving dating back to the founding of the credit union in the 1930's. With a commitment to making a difference in the communities it serves, Langley for Families Foundation was launched in 2014 to support causes and charities benefiting children and families. For more information, visit www.langleyforfamilies.org.
